Its voice-based cognitive screening capabilities are designed to support the identification of cognitive and behavioral changes associated with conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, anxiety, and depression. Social isolation monitoring can also help flag loneliness before it compounds into more serious health risks.
Personal safety is also built into the platform. Emergency alerts can be activated in multiple ways to accommodate users with limited mobility or grip strength. For younger users facing personal safety concerns in parts of Latin America, the platform includes a silent alert function that triggers help from a wearable without any visible indication. The same feature has since been adopted for senior users as well. Commercially, Ellie Care addresses a structural gap in remote monitoring. While telecare adoption in the U.S. and Europe has developed over decades, only around one in ten seniors currently use these services, leaving significant unmet demand. Across much of Latin America, infrastructure remains less developed. Outside Argentina, Ellie Care operates through a B2B model, providing telecare providers with a plug-and-play software layer that integrates with existing systems and call centers. The platform also operates independently of smartphones, maintaining uninterrupted monitoring via LTE, Wi-Fi, and cellular connectivity across locations and even during international travel.
Usability remains central to adoption. The watch interface is simplified for seniors with minimal interaction and intuitive emergency options, while allowing greater customization for more tech-savvy users. Behind the interface, machine learning continuously adapts alerts and behavioral thresholds using both broader datasets and individual user patterns. As a result, monitoring profiles evolve around the user, with fall detection calibrated differently for an active 75-year-old than for a sedentary 80-year-old. This user-centered and adaptive approach has also contributed to Ellie Care’s recognition as a Top Senior Care Monitoring Solution in Latin America.
The next phase centers on LE-AI, an AI-supported care coordination layer that extends beyond monitoring. Rather than only sending alerts, it aims to help coordinate doctor appointments, transportation, medication tracking, and recovery follow-up after incidents such as falls. The company is beginning to develop this initiative in collaboration with Google Health and Samsung.
